Venue: The Fields, Bloomington, Indiana

Colors: White, Lavender

Inspiration: Country Chic Romance

What a wonderful wedding season we’ve had so far! I’ve finally found the time to sit down for a few minutes and look back at some photos from some of our weddings earlier this year.

The first wedding of our season was Jenny & Jon, which took place at the Fields this past April. We spent much of our time working with Jenny’s mom Cynthia and it was so great to see the details progress. We loved the soft color palette of white and lavender for the wedding weekend.

The wedding rehearsal on Friday evening was a country-chic barbecue! From gingham linens and bandana napkins, to the monogramed corn-hole set, every detail played perfectly into the theme. A pennant that said ‘Jon & Jenny’ hung over the Palladian windows, giving a hint of the decor that would be following the next day. Finally, tons of candles and white florals on the runner added a soft & romantic touch. We were able to help coordinate with the rehearsal dinner vendors, do some last minute touches, and make sure the room was ready to ensure they rehearsal dinner started off without a hitch!

We started this gorgeous day ready for the many specific decor plans we would be setting up. Cynthia & Jenny had  a beautiful vision of how they wanted the Fields transformed, and we were happy to help make that come to life! We started by hanging lots of pennants from suspended boxes that hung from the ceiling at the Fields clubhouse. At the entrance, we hung one large banner with the bride & groom’s custom family Crest. This Crest was also seen on their custom made toile fabric, which even said ‘Jon and Jenny’. Definitely a wow factor! Cocktail tables were set around the room so guests would mingle throughout the night. The look was completed with white florals on the tables and a beautiful ruffled cake.

Inspiration: Traditional Chinese mixed with Modern American wedding elements

Burr & Xuan’s October wedding at Deer Park was perfect. This couple is so fun and was pretty laid back throughout the planning process. Planning from California and having Xuan’s family in China did provide a bit of a challenge though. Luckily, they hired us to help! We also helped create a design plan for the couple since Burr & Xuan wanted to perfectly merge aspects of a Chinese wedding and an American wedding.

The ceremony was traditional and family oriented, with the officiant being a family friend of the groom. The ceremony had white rose petals in a beautiful pattern down the aisle. Wind chimes hung in the trees and on the chairs hung small wreaths.  The reception incorporated the Chinese elements: custom-made bamboo lined vases holding the centerpieces, varying shades of green lanterns, and elegant engraved chopsticks as favors for each of the guests.  Another special touch we loved: the groom’s mother handmade their cake topper! So cute! We also loved the family style dinner, which was great for guests who wanted to try a bit of everything without having to get up! Overall, it was a wonderful wedding day. I truly had a great time planning with and getting to know such a sweet couple, Burr & Xuan.

Wynne Wedding Bloomington Indiana 1

Venue: First Christian Church; Indiana Memorial Union – Alumni Hall

Colors: Eggplant, Fuchsia, Navy

We had so much fun planning with Whitney! Right off the bat, Whitney had so many fun to incorporate into her design theme for the wedding. For florals, Whitney opted for something unique and different. The florists, Artful Blooms, made her bouquet very modern – it was custom made for her out of multiple fuchsia rose petals to appear as one large flower. Very cool! When the couple exited the church, guests waved ribbon wands for their Grand Exit (the kids especially loved these!!).

For the reception décor, Whitney opted for 3 different styles of arrangements on the tables to add a nice variety around the room.  The head table had Manzanita branches that were draped with hanging orchids. For a pop of color, the vases that held the branches had fuchsia water.  The guest table linens were eggplant and fuchsia, and the head table had a gorgeous navy crinkle taffeta.  The chairs at the head table were embellished with (our favorite!) fabric curly willow ties flown in from California. They added just the right amount of stylish fun to complete the look of the head table. To add, the room was lit up in patterned lighting and a very special monogram was lit up on stage for the couple.

Matt & Victoria Nigerian wedding Bloomington Indiana

Venue: Deer Park Manor, Bloomington Indiana

Colors: Purple, White

Inspiration: American – Nigerian Modern Wedding

Before we get full swing into the 2013 wedding season, we thought we’d share a couple more weddings from last season in the next few blogs to add a little more inspiration before this season begins. We’ll start with Matt & Victoria’s June 2012 wedding.

Victoria came to us for advice with vendors and overall coordination of the day to make sure it ran smoothly.  After our first wedding with Victoria and her mother, we knew this would be a fun wedding!  The day started at St Pauls Catholic Church, followed by a reception at Deer Park Manor. We loved seeing all of the Nigerian ‘Aso-ebi’ outfits in a variety of fun and beautiful fabrics unique to each family. Victoria also loves the color purple and wanted to make sure it was incorporated into all of the flowers and decor. Her beautiful bouquet consisted of lilac roses, sweat pea, and purple and white calla lillies. Tables consisted of a variety of arrangements that played off the beautifully landscaped Deer Park garden surrounding the reception tent. Dance Machine helped make sure guests danced the night away, and some of Victoria’s family members even surprised the crowd with some traditional Nigerian music and a fun money dance that got every guest out of their seats dancing! Finally, Matt and Victoria surprised the crowd with an outfit change of their own, into their very own Nigerian outfits in their family fabric.

Inspiration: A recent Colorado Trip;  Elements such as bark, wood, natural foliage

We had SUCH a blast at the Bloomington Bridal Show this year! We met so many awesome brides, connected with great vendor friends, and became inspired from being surrounded by all of the wedding details in one room!

Our table this year was a Colorado Glam inspired table. I recently got back from a mini vacation/wedding trip to Colorado in November, and the feeling has stuck with me!

I was lucky enough to win a trip to the Association of Bridal Consultants Annual Conference in Denver. This 3 day conference had wedding planning seminars and lots of inspiration from all over the US. I even got to learn from Rebecca Grinnals (she’s a wedding industry pro to the pro’s) and Donnie Brown (remember the tv show Who’s Wedding Is It Anyway? or Big Texas Weddings? He’s a celebrity planner). Anyways, here’s a few photo’s below from the show and my trip:

Now onto the bridal show!

Our table featured linens from Connie Duglin Linens including platinum shantung as our main table linen, apple green crinkle napkins, and beautiful crushed romance lilac chair ties! Our centerpiece was our ever-favorite Manzanita branch, adorned with white orchids. 3 arrangements of Dusty Miller, Hydrangea, and Roses in birch bark vases were added to the table to create the Colorado feel, and 3 glass pillars ‘glammed’ up the table! For final touches, we used wooden chargers, menu’s wrapped in bronze twine atop bronze sparkly paper, and gold crackle wine glasses.

A special thanks to Connie Duglin Linens and A Classic Party Rental for providing items for our booth this year!
