Venue:Bryan Park; Sycamore Farm | Bloomington, Indiana

Color Palette: Mustard & Gray

Inspiration: Warm fall colors

After planning with Laura and her mom, Nancy, for 2 years, we couldn’t wait for this wedding to come! This unseasonably cold October morning (as in lows in the 30’s!!) started off windy and rainy. With an outdoor ceremony at Bryan Park and a reception at Sycamore Farm (with a breezeway dance floor!), the weather wasn’t cooperating. Finally after setting up, the sun peaked out a gorgeous day followed! There are just so many pretty details to this wedding – describing them won’t do them justice so we will let the amazing photos below (from the talented Todd Pellowe) speak for themselves.

Laura & Evan Oct 19 13-007
How amazing are these hand-drawn invites? We were ecstatic watching each of these RSVP’s come back to our office and reading all of the guests comments and excitement about the wedding.
Laura & Evan Oct 19 13-001
The ceremony was set at Bryan Park at the exact tree that Evan proposed to Laura. The setting was so beautiful in the fall with colorfully changing leaves. Laura made her own diy floral paper backdrop that we hung from her special tree, which added to the beauty of the ceremony site. And of course, their dog Ruby was there by their side for all of it.
Laura & Evan Oct 19 13-003
Reception: This gorgeous barn was transformed. Tables had unique quirky floral arrangements with wooden elements or lanterns and vivid yellow florals and succulents. Laura’s mom, Nancy, created custom table runners, yellow & gray patterned, which went over a linen textured sand linen. Instead of table numbers, the bride and groom chose their favorite Bloomington landmarks. On the dance floor, Laura wanted a fun ribbon chandelier – which we had so much fun creating. No detail was overlooked!
Laura & Evan Oct 19 131
Every detail was carefully thought of with making the guests as comfortable as possible! They offered blankets for chilly guests and flip flops for the women to change into for dancing shoes! For dessert, they had over 20 different types of homemade pies and a rice crispies cake for the groom! During cocktail hour, IU’s acapella group Another Round sang as guests played corn hole and drank the signature cocktails.

After the cake cut, Laura had a fun surprise for Evan – a surprise flash mob! Evan was sat down in a chair and Laura started the fun dance number with bridal party members, with all guests eventually all joining in for this dedication to Evan. It was one of the coolest things as a planner that I’ve experienced.
When the last song played, the bride and groom had their final dance. All guests formed a large circle around the couple and then sent them off with sparkler exit! Congrats to the happy couple! – Lauren

From the Bride… Evan and I had some of our first and favorite dates at Bryan Park while we were in college together at Indiana University, so when Evan proposed he popped the question in that very park a year after we had graduated and come back in town to celebrate homecoming weekend. So when we were deciding on a venue, using the spot under the very tree he proposed at in Bryan Park was a simple choice.

The whole idea for the wedding was centered around that spot in the fall. I wanted warm fall colors and a fun and casual feel for our guests. The reception venue at a local horse farm just south of campus fit right in with our idea. The rolling hills and the trees full of leaves changing color provided the perfect backdrop for the evening.

Our planner and florist helped bring the rest of our ideas to life with a mixture of warm mustard yellow tones, different shades of gray, and natural wood colors and textures combined with bold graphic designs in the table runners (hand-sewn by my mom), a ribbon chandelier, as well as contemporary floral arrangements to bring a more modern edge to the rustic venue. A DIY ceremony backdrop, Bloomington landmarks as table names, caramel apples for favors, a pie bar for dessert, a rice krispie groom’s cake, homemade corn hole boards (painted by my sister-in-law), a bonfire for roasting marshmallows, a custom invitation suite made by a good friend, and homemade dog treats at dinner tables for our Brittany Spaniel, Ruby were some of the additions that made our wedding feel fun and personal to us.

Katy Jason IMU wedding 1

Venue: Indiana Memorial Union; Garden Tree Suite & Alumni Hall

Color Palette: Eggplant & Silver

Inspiration: Romantic details

What a fun couple! Katy’s bubbly personality made planning with her a blast. We helped Katy with her invitations and coordination on the wedding day, while also helping add some decor details in the mix.

Their ceremony took place at the Tree Garden Suite at the IMU. Artful Blooms created a gorgeous canopy with sheer white fabric, bright purple arrangements and a stunning chandelier! We lined the aisles with some curly willow fabric and vases filled with baby breath. Finally, guests were given petals to toss at the couple during the recessional.

Following the ceremony, the reception took place in Alumni Hall.  It looked AMAZING! Katy couldn’t resist taking a sneak peak with the bridal party before hand. Beautiful silver chairs, eggplant linens, silver mercury glass votives, mint julep cups, and purple arrangements created a romantic decor scheme. Glass candelabras on the head table added a touch of glam, while purple lighting and their lit monogram gobo sealed the look.

Venue: Universalist Church of Muncie; Oakhurst Gardens at Minnestrista in Muncie, IN

Color Palette: Royal Blue, Green, Varying Garden Colors

Originally planning a Bloomington wedding, Elizabeth and John decided to have their wedding in the brides hometown – and I can’t blame them! The ceremony church had a whole wall of windows that overlooked the woods – you felt like you were in the middle of nature! And the reception venue was gorgeous – originally the home of the Ball family (you know, that created Ball Jars!). On the Minnestrista grounds, there are gorgeous estates, beautiful gardens and brick roads.  The perfect spot for a wedding!

I really enjoyed working with this couple. They were planning out of town, so that always presents a few challenges, but I love how involved they both were! They have a fun, quirkiness about them – a few of our favorite details were the cake topper that was made out of legos, their recessional music was from Star Wars, and the grooms cake had a rocket and a robot on it! The dinosaur cufflinks for the groom and the vivid wedding shoes for the bride were added to the quirkiness!

They were very laid back about many details, but when it came to food this was a huge priority! They chose a menu that was all vegetarian but provided a few different options for everyone and it was delicious!

When it came to decor, the bride really wanted to have gorgeous draping in the tent. When asking her for a color scheme, she said she loved all colors so we kept the florals natural (like you would find in a garden). For the hanging lanterns, shades of blue and spring green were chosen to compliment the garden.

Once nighttime hit, the tent glowed blue and created the perfect ambiance for dancing the night away. Finally, the night ended with a fun piñata match, which ultimately the mother of the bride cracked! How fun!

A special thanks to Meredith Rogers for letting us use these gorgeous photos!

Lauren Mark Bloomington Wedding 15

Venue: Indiana Memorial Union – Tree Suite Garden, Solarium Patio, Alumni Hall

Color Palette: Yellow, Gray, Coral

Inspiration: Vintage Lace, Fun & Surprising Details!

I’m so excited to share this super awesome July wedding at the IMU. This wedding just came together perfectly. I love weddings like this – where my clients bring in all sorts of personal touches that make it completely unique to them. Not only did I plan with the bride Lauren (having the same name didn’t get confusing at all, right?!) I planned with all of the family at one point or another! We had been planning for over a year (I just checked, 244 emails later…)!

Her sister created fun, bright yellow invites & menu cards, while mom & dad were all about making sure the wedding stayed fun. One of their friends officiated and we made sure to plan with him along the way as well. And for groomsmen gifts, the men received gray Nikes from the Groom, so they were comfy throughout the day. Lauren was super laid back and was so easy to plan with – her 1 request… a tandem bicycle. It proved a challenge to find but was fun to incorporate!

We started off the wedding weekend stuffing 200+ welcome bags & buckets for all of their guests. Everyone got a local beer, cookie, a special note, and things to do around town. Some guests even got a custom Sink the Biz bucket complete with glasses and beer.

Artful Blooms created vibrant and romantic florals. For the ceremony, they created a gorgeous garland which they draped over the Chuppah.

After the ceremony, guests were routed up the backstairs to line up along the road for a grand exit. All guests received sunglasses (with neon sides that said L+M) and birdseed. The couple originally was going to ride the tandem bicycle through the crowd, but it proved to be quite difficult in the wedding dress. Instead, it was incorporated into an awesome photo prop.

During the cocktail hour, guests enjoyed the new outdoor Solarium Patio, where they could get the couples signature drink the “Beatty Blend” (a super yummy alcoholic Arnold Palmer). They even had a steel drummer to entertain the crowd!

For the reception, we used dark grey linens for the guests tables and a very special lace overlay for the cake and head table. Different colors of florals and vases were used to contrast with the tables. On each table, we chose yellow menu cards to contrast against the dark linens. Each menu had a lace overlay with yellow & white bakers twine.

Lauren surprised the groom with a custom sports themed cake with all of his favorite teams! For the wedding cake, they had the CUTEST cake topper ever – made to match them perfectly. So fun!

For the intoductions, all of the couples wore their new L+M sunglasses and did fun dances. The rest of the evening was follow by dinner, dancing, a fun photobooth, and a late night s’mores bar!

There are definitely times when I feel like I am a part of something extra special – every wedding is special, but this one just had that extra special touch where you could tell just how meaningful it was to everyone involved. Three sisters Brynnen had babysat for sang and played pre-lude music;  each of her sisters sang beautiful songs – one for the bridal party and another during the unity tradition, while one of her oldest childhood friends played the guitar. Brynnen couldn’t stand the though of not watching her sister sing during the bridal parties entrance, so she hid behind a large tree and peeked out. Tears were flowing before the ceremony even began!

Her and Steve did an intimate first look, and then she did a first look with her father! So special!

The ceremony tree’s large extending branch, used to hang photo’s of family couple, created a gorgeous backdrop for this sweet wedding.

For an outdoor wedding with a forecast that said it would be sunny all day, right after setting up the sprinkles started. I was SO worried once that happened, but luckily during the ceremony it didn’t start raining very hard. It actually gave the ceremony a romantic (think of the Notebook) kinda feel. I would take that any day over a blazing hot sunny day!

Beautiful details of the bridesmaids dresses and to-die-for bouquets!

The reception took place under a tent in the Manor’s gardens. We hung a lovely newspaper heart and strands of homemade musical page cutouts behind the head table. One each table were pink French toile runners (made my the MOB, Sher!), with carefully coordinated vintage bottles and heirloom family doilies. We were given careful instructions to make sure the look was exactly what they envisioned!

Each place setting had gorgeous menu cards, with the head table using beautiful family china. We adored the cute chalkboard bar sign and timeline (done by the crafty bride!). And the cake..! Probably the best wedding cake I’ve had to date.

Beautiful newspaper heart, handwritten place cards in antique shutters, and a cute cake sign. This lovely decor came from LolaRue, right here in town!

We kept the reception coordination going throughout the evening, with dinner music by Charlie Jesseph, onto sweet speeches, then dancing to Sinatra-like music by the Al Cobine Band.

Behind the scenes, we coordinated with Cynthia Moriarty to ensure perfect timing for the French cuisine, served family style.

Once dancing begun, we placed out favors of Herb d’Provence and lavender sachets. And it was time for some late night snacks!

You could just feel how special this day was, not only to Brynnen & Steve, but to their families. The evening finished with a fun Sparkler Circle sendoff!
